A good place to start if you are new to autism

Many wonder why autism is not declared an epidemic.  Twenty years ago, one in 10,000 was diagnosed, five years ago one in 250, and now the CDC is saying it's 1 in 150.  If you give birth to a boy, his odds are much greater.  Welcome to the club.

You hear the word autistic spectrum; this is because there are many extremes to autism and every child has different symptoms.  They often, either have chronic constipation or diarrhea.  They are often picky eaters,  lazy and laid back or very hyper and they act impulsively.  Sensory issues; anything from craving some sensations to avoiding others.  Gets sick all the time especially with ear infections or upper respiratory problems or rarely gets sick .  Wants to be held all the time and over affectionate or won't let anyone touch them.  Gets fixated on some things, does things repetitively and or they pay no attention to other thing that other children are interested in.  Resistant to change or could care less.  Lot's of inappropriate language or no language at all.  There are many other traits, but these are the one's that stick out as extremes.  Many things have caused your child's autism.  We feel most of our children are so toxic that the they have spiraled into this disease and you have the power to get them back.  Also, what is even more alarming is many of our children have symptoms of autism like sensory problems but parents are short changed in getting help because their child doesn't add up to have any specific diagnosis.

Another horrible fact is with autism, ADD, and or learning disabilities on the rise; there is a huge demand for developmental pediatrician appointments.  Often, parents have to wait almost a year to get an appointment.  So much time has been lost.  One thing everyone agrees on is that early intervention is so important.

Many times, grass-roots support groups can be invaluable for giving referrals from other experienced parents to new parents that are just getting a diagnosis and feel.

Most of the mothers that I network with do not put the entire blame on vaccines or the mercury that is the PRIMARY cause of autism.  There are lots of causes; not just one.  None the less; we know mercury (thimerosol) and aluminum are very harmful toxins whatever shape or form and we may have gotten a little carried away with the number of vaccine shots in such a small time frame with no regard for children that are shown to have weakened immune systems.  The perfect scenario is a healthy body that can handle these environmental assaults and vaccines that many families want to trust.  At this time I don’t think the solution is to quit vaccinating all children. What I want to see is screening done that can identify high risk and possibly set up a different vaccination schedule.  I think doctors need to objectively look at vaccines like for chicken pox and specifically screen a mother for hepatitis B instead of vaccinating within the first few days of birth.  The vaccine issue is a very personal one.

All the children whose recovery I have witnessed are absolutely brilliant children.  They catch up and exceed their peers.  I'm not talking brilliant as in genius, NO, these children and brilliant and very balanced in their lives.  When you have a brilliant child, you think “their brains are like a sponge”.  This is so true, the problem is their brain while developing was also a sponge for toxins absorbed from the mother, foods, air, and electromagnetic frequencies.

If you just recently had a child diagnosed with autism; we empathize with you.  You are probably feeling confused, sad, and mad all rolled up into one.

We know what you are going through right now. Many parents will feel guilty for their child's autism and feel they are to blame.  You have got to rid yourself of all guilt.  It doesn't matter if you passed it along in some unsuspecting way or you knew you shouldn't have vaccinated your child.  We've heard many respected people say that the guilt could hold your child back from getting better.  Ask for forgiveness.  We want you to start becoming hopeful that you can recover your child.  How you can become hopeful is through research. Learn everything you can about autism.  If your doctor is not hopeful; find a new one.

If you've gotten this far in your journey of learning about autism and dietary intervention; odds are either someone has pushed you into reading about it or you have a hunch it will work.  You still may be questioning diet or you have a spouse that is questioning it.  You might be wondering, how come the doctor didn't recommend it.  What we can tell you is doctors only recommending things that are scientifically proven and diet is not very well researched or studied.  We have seen in our testimonies that it's not just diet that recovered a child but a few other therapies along with it.

We have found that some children don't respond as quickly as others with diet.  There are so many variables.  We see if someone is trying to do just a gluten/casein free diet that they are replacing glutenous grains with corn and rice.  They are not correcting the digestion and immune system so the body eventually ends up rejecting these foods, too.  It can be very hard in the beginning because a small infraction can set your child back so that it seems the hard work isn't worth it.  It's also hard to understand how the body can naturally cleanse itself.  The symptoms often get worse before better.  This is not what we've been taught all these years from advertising.  You may feel like a diet change is impossible because your child is so addicted to starches and sugary foods.  We have found a very magical drink called young green coconut kefir that seems to be the turning point for many kids.  It's a probiotic that is full of minerals, very cleansing to the body and will help shift their bodies to a more alkalized state. You'll find they are more open to eating healthier things like vegetables.

We often find it is harder with older children but we are very hopeful these days with the ground breaking work being done by a good friend to Bedrok Community, Leonard Smith, MD.   You can read more about it on this site.

I think the change of diet is a very proactive thing.  In the beginning it takes a lot of preparation and thought.  This will be a good distraction for your sadness right now.  If you have a child with bad behaviors; this can be so exhausting; just get ahead and your hard work will pay off.  Trust us on this.  We know it's difficult; you've got to make it a priority to get yourself in the kitchen.  You will not wake up one morning and do everything 100% Body Ecology Diet.  This is absolutely discouraged for many reasons.  You must make baby steps; one step at a time; it's often referred to.  The goal here is to get your child's digestion and immune system so healthy that he can eat anything within reason.  Of course, you will embrace your new way of eating and cooking but you won't have to be a recluse when it comes to socializing with friends.  You will be able to make better choices.  There is a bigger message than our children's autism.  We have got to change what is going on with our foods, air, and water and out of control vaccine policies.  We are poisoning our children and that's what autism is.  Autism has been around for less than 100 years.   Some speculate too much medical intervention might be to blame as well.
